Walkin’ the Good Road

On the Good Road

Today we had the third Saturday meeting of the12 week meditation series in the Daring Greatly: 60 Day Gratitude Challenge at Two Rivers Yoga. This week we focus on learning to Walk the Good Road and becoming healers.  We began with a prayer inspired by Ana Forrest’s teaching:

Let us dance with what is immovable in our lives.  Let us find the courage and help one another to travel the Good Road.   Let us find the courage and help one another to find the prayers that are true for us.    Let us find the courage to use our healing breath to see and feel the energy inside ourselves & others.   Let us find the courage and help one another to honor the laws of medicine and nature. Let us find the courage and help one another to trust ourselves to try, to accept ourselves when we fail & to try again.  Let us give thanks!

Prayer has always been a bit challenging for me.  Reading Ana’s personal experience of it has sparked something inside – I feel a shift happening.  Right now just letting the discovery be.

Together, we created prayer consciousness by releasing what blocks our ability to see, hear, smell, taste, touch and feel life being born moment to moment.  In giving energy, time and space in the circle I believe we also honored our heart’s truth.  For me, the circle became a portal to Spirit:  that amazing energy of inter-being.

We played a version of the “seeing game” that Ana Forrest describes in her chapter on becoming healers.  We looked around the room, then closed our eyes and try to recreate what we saw.  With open eyes you could reflect on the difference between looking and really seeing.  In the second round we let our eyes rest wherever they were intuitively drawn.  Seeing the energy of the being.  We then tried feeling the person’s energy in our own bodies.  Ana writes that seeing in this way requires opening our senses and shifting from thinking to feeling.  We tried feeling the person’s energy in our own bodies.  This is a tricky practice – how do you “know” whether you’ve got it “right?”  How do you distinguish a genuine intuitive perception from a self-projection?  I think we have to let go of trying to “know” so hard – we have to trust each other to try, fail and try again.

Ana encourages those of us on the Good Road to develop our intuitive being by seeing energy.  Like yoga practice – do it everyday and see what happens.  At the very least something will change because you are really trying to see people.  How often do you feel really seen?  O.K. my friends I will be thinking of you using your Energy Vision this week!
