I managed to drop quite a bit of weight during my two weeks of outdoor vacation steelhead fishing on the Deschutes and hiking all over near Mazama but it rebounded very quickly this time around and this week I hit a new high of 159!!!! This is the most I’ve weighed in several years. I hope that the 160 mark isn’t too far away, I’d like to get there and really I’d like to be back around 165 which was my best shape weight.
My symptoms have remained non-existent to mild over the last month and I’m coming up on 6 months w/o treating SIBO next week. My diet is rounding out even more as I’ve now been able to add onions and garlic to my meals, I’m eating some nuts again and am eating more and more raw food. I’ve cut way back on supplements which feels really good, no more handfuls of pills at each meal or at night. Now it is 2 pills at meals – an enzyme and ButyrAid and 4 pills at night – LDN and 3 ginger caps.
Still hoping the extra FODMAPs and pre- and probiotics I’m taking are fixing up my colon microbiome. I just signed up for a UBiome Gut Time Lapse kit which is on sale for a few more days, this will let me take 3 snapshots of my gut biome over time so I can see if things are moving in the right direction. We will see.
Of course if it isn’t one thing it is another and the other I’m dealing with is my neck. Specifically the moderate to severe disc degeneration in C6-C7 plus some other discs that are bad. This is causing my left leg to burn like crazy if I move my neck in a certain way. I’m seeing a few chiropractors about the issue in hopes there is something that can be done. The first concluded that there were no adjustments that could fix this and that my best bet was to use a neck wedge to give myself gravity traction for about 6 months in hopes that would help. I’m getting a second opinion in a few weeks. Kind of a drag but if I watch my posture and don’t move my neck down and to the left then in general it is OK. So far it hasn’t impacted my ability to run or hike, in fact I feel better running or hiking than I do sitting at my desk. I can chalk this one up to decades of bike commuting, computer programming and running.
