I took my last handful of herbal antimicrobials last night and am getting ready to do the prep diet tomorrow for re-testing on Friday morning at the SIBO Center in Portland. A few weeks ago I would have said that I thought I had this thing licked but then I started having some evening symptoms again so now I’m not sure what to expect from this test. I’ve used up all the protocols I know of so if I’m still positive I’m going to have to figure out what the heck to do next. I will be reviewing the results with Dr. Keller on Monday morning so will have a chance to sort this out.
On top of the SIBO test I have a bunch of tests that I’m either waiting for results or to take in hopes of finding something, anything, that can point to my sleep problems, my weight issues and the other symptoms I have going on. I also got back my 23andMe results and ran through GeneticGenie, still not sure what to make of the methylation variations I have but the descriptions fit me pretty well with regards to anxiety issues.
Waiting on results:
- Metabolic Panel – to see what, if anything, is out of balance metabolically.
- Thyroid Panel – to see if maybe I’ve got hyperthyroid, that would explain a lot.
- Lipid Profile – not really illness related but I’m curious as to what my lipids look like after year on SCD and AIP. Oddly my blood pressure has gone down upon eating meat and way more salt, I was always on the upper end of normal range as a vegan/vegetarian, now I’m on the lower end.
- Adrenal Stress Index – see if I have adrenal fatigue and if my cortisol levels are basically upside down which would explain my waking up every night.
Still waiting to do:
- MRI – to scan for MS or other nerve damage after my AI Panel results showed I have antibodies against myelin protein. I’ve since talked to others who had elevated levels of this antibody and no sign of MS but who also had small fiber neuropathy like I do so I’m hoping that will be the outcome.
- Organix Comprehensive Profile Test – this one looks like it was made for me, it is for people dealing with sleep disturbances, weight issues, depression and chemical sensitivities. Right now I’m at least 3 for 4 on those. Again, looking at the metabolic pathways but in a different light than the blood test.
Bottom line, I should know a lot more in a few weeks to a month. Hopefully by the time I go to Portland again in June for the SIBO Symposium I’ll have most of this out of the way except maybe the MRI results.
