I just got back from a week of vacation in sunny Southern California where I took advantage of the perfect weather and did a LOT of walking and running. I managed to run three mornings in El Moro Canyon for a total of 15.5 miles, Catherine and I did several long beach walks at Crystal Cove clocking in 22 miles and then just normal life and playing with the niece and nephews on the beach or at the resort got us another 5 miles per day for a total of about 67 miles for the week. I figured that I was probably going to come home down 3-4 lbs after my experience in OR and the North Cascades but I got home and weighed in at 161, up 2 lbs from when I had left. It’s not like I pigged out while in SoCal either and I really didn’t have lunch the day we traveled home so to me this is a good sign that my weight issues are behind me and that I can just continue eating a good Paleo diet and probably keep slowly gaining until I hit my real weight somewhere around 165. On top of that I made it through the week w/o any symptoms and even dined out at restaurants a few times during the trip and ate onions every morning with the breakfast hash I made.
Also hit my 6 month anniversary from the time I stopped taking anti-microbial herbs to treat SIBO and so far no relapse at all. This is huge, I was sort of expecting to relapse by now but so far it seems like all systems are heading in the right direction. My UBiome kit arrived while I was gone so it is time to start the sampling and do the time-lapse to see what is going on with the microbiome as I add in more probiotics in the form of the foods I’m eating and the prebiotic found in the new probiotics I’m taking.
SIBO App version 1.3 is now out too, I added a few new features to the app recently and have another feature in progress at the moment. Kind of nice to be back doing some programming work.
