Day 6 - Hiking Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon from Inspiration Point

We woke early and began our hike for the day, a planned link up of several trails throughout the canyon.  We started by walking up to the Rim Trail from camp and followed it about 2 miles to Bryce Point.  At Bryce Point we headed down into the canyon via the Peekaboo Loop Trail, taking the eastern fork of the loop.  This was a very cool trail, walking on a sandy trail cut into the sides of the walls and going through arches and windows in the hoodoos of the canyon.

At the end of the loop we caught the Queen's Garden Trail over to that region of the canyon.  Turning around at the Garden we followed the trail towards Sunrise Point until it began a steep climb back up to the rim and instead took a horse/hiking trail around to the east which would loop us back to the Peekaboo Loop.   This was a nice trail that went through some forest areas instead of just rock.  Back at Peekaboo we took the western side of the loop and returned to Bryce Point and began the walk back to the campground.    All in all about 15 miles of hiking and we covered much of the main amphitheatre.

The Castle This reminded me of a Gothic Cathedral

We were exhausted and needed a shower so we caught the shuttle to the General Store and had showers then, too tired to cook, went to the Bryce Lodge for dinner.  We saw the sunset in between Sunrise and Sunset Points and watched and listened as ravens flew overhead and under feet at the rim of the canyon.
