Our original plan was for 11 days and we were going to go from the Redwoods to the Oregon Coast to spend one night there then return home but given the holiday weekend and the fact that we'd seen all the "big attractions" of the trip we decided to combine two days of driving into one and head for home. We got up early and hit the road by 8 a.m., heading up the Redwoods bypass to reconnect on Hwy 101 to Crescent City. In Crescent City we found the Java Hut to fuel up and then took Hwy 199 to Oregon and Grant's Pass. This drive followed the Smith River and more redwoods for quite a ways and was incredible, it made me want to come back and explore more in the future.
At Gran't Pass we got back on I-5 where we would spend the next several hours driving through Oregon, stopping briefly at Roseburg and then driving on to the I-205 around Portland, back on the I-5 and finally arriving in Seattle and home at 8:00 p.m., twelve hours later.
