The first day on the road was one of the longest drive days we had planned for the trip so we took the high speed route - down I-5, over Hwy 58 and weaving our way to Crater Lake National Park. We drove up through the park getting higher and higher, crossing snowfields, and finally pulling around a corner to see the lake itself:
We set up camp then went back up to the rim to do the Rim hike as much as we could. There was some snow, amazing views, and a few deer along the edge of the lake as we walked. Here is Wizard Island from the Rim Trail:
We sat at the lodge to relax a bit before heading back to camp to prepare dinner:
