We drove from Sunrise to the Ohanapecosh campground and set up camp in the old growth forest. I immediately went fishing and caught about a half dozen small trout in the river just below our camp. The next day we awoke to low clouds and decided to do a flat, but long forest hike since views were out of the question anyway. We took off from camp and went up the river first to Silver Falls.

We then continued north and went to visit the Grove of the Patriarchs, a group of 1000 year old Cedars, Douglas Firs, and Western Hemlocks.

After the Grove we continued up the lightly travelled East Side trail through more virgin forest following the river until we finally came to a bridge where the river was a small waterfall.
