In this 4-session course we will learn the basic techniques of mindfulness meditation. Just as yoga promotes flexibility, builds energy, sharpens awareness and relaxes the body, meditation can foster greater equanimity, concentration and calm the mind. Each class will offer guided meditation instruction, daily homework suggestions and time to address individual challenges and questions.
In this course you will learn how to:
~ use simple stretches and breathing techniques to release tension and relax the body
~ find your optimal posture for sitting in stillness
~ concentrate in various mind states
~ use imagery, intention and affirmation to inspire and sustain your practice
Catherine de Marin will offer in-class practice tips on establishing your practice at home, online guided meditations, written instructions and ongoing support in-person or online. Each class builds on the last. You can access the a summary of individual class content and homework suggestions by reading the blog posts categorized as “Introduction to Meditation and Mindfulness.”
Class dates are: 9/23 & 30, 10/14 & 21 (no class 10/7)
