Today we had the fifth Saturday meeting of the12 week meditation series in the Daring Greatly: 60 Day Gratitude Challenge at Two Rivers Yoga. This week we focus on “turning shit into fertilizer”: turning over life’s challenges and disappointments into the soil that will nurture new growth. We began with a prayer inspired by Ana Forrest’s teaching:
Let us dance with what is immovable in our lives. Let us find the courage & help one another to hold on to what’s precious no matter what. Let us find the courage & help one another disobey the direction of poisonous conditioning. Let us find the courage to use our healing breath to find humor and beauty in despair. Let us find the courage & help one another to stop; breathe; wait; look and see. Let us find the courage & help one another to take a stance, do our Power Dance & sing our Song . . . Let us give thanks!
We used breath to track the sensation of what was coming up for healing. We cozied up to it so we could get close enough to really feel it with all our senses. Then we listened to its story: when the wound first came to be, where it came from and what it told us about ourselves. If we believed its story, how did affect our lives?
Then we asked what it would could teach us. We imagined ourselves going down the path of learning. We considered what we would do to let go of any false belief. What choices we’re willing to make to grow healing. We breathed life into the most meaningful healing choice and affirmed it with “whole heart” words.
Traveling to Two Rivers this morning I crossed a bridge enveloped in fog. The only thing visible was the closest outline of the bridge. I had to trust the bridge to go through the fog. It didn’t let me down – the bridge and the fog gave me the opportunity to drop what I think I know and enter the mystery. It reminded me of the magic I feel in our circle. We form a bridge to help each other go through the fog and enter the mystery.
Feeling so grateful for you right now!
